Yes, she's having brain surgery, in a few weeks. Just wanted to let y'all know....Getting a shunt inserted for the hydrocephalus. It's gonna be a rough Xmas season, and we could use any and all good thoughts you may have to offer. Thanks :)

A good friend of my sister's had it in high school. She is 100% due to the surgery and has a teenage daughter now. Good thoughts and much love to your mom.

4. My dad had that very same surgery last year.

He recovered quickly and he's doing fine now. Best wishes for your mom. What I learned about this surgery is that it's not uncommon and the results are generally quite good.

5. It seems scary but it's not as bad as you think (shunt-wise).

I've been around a few of them before. She'll be just fine.

Just keep calm and focus on a few simple touches to make the holiday season extra special and as worry free as possible for her. With surgery coming up get her a new robe, a nice nightie, a soft blanket that she can take w/ her. A pretty scarf would be nice too.

Any kind of brain surgery sounds scary.
