Rumor nobody cares about: Prairie Prince out of The Tubes?
No, not the series of tubes that make up the internet. There's a rumor that Fee Waybill has kicked drummer Prairie Prince out of The Tubes. I await confirmation.

1. Wasn't Prairie...
touring with The New Cars?? Could that have something to do with it??

I adore The Tubes -- I stopped counting the number of times I have seen them perform -- with and without Fee -- over the years.

2. Who ISN'T Prairie touring with?
In addition to The Tubes, he's been playing with Jefferson Starship, The New Cars, Rundgren solo...it's not as if The Tubes haven't played shows without him before. He can't survive on the income from Tubes shows alone, as there aren't that many of them. (However, he's probably more than able to survive on his graphic design income.)

3. Talk about yer blast from the past...
I'm frankly amazed the Tubes are still a viable entity. They were quite the transgressive little outfit back in the '70s, when I first caught them. Exceptional satirists, and definitely ahead of their time. For me and my homies, "White Punks On Dope" was a bit of an anthem, to be sure. (And for all the wrong reasons, of course, but we were 14 and clueless.)

I can't quite imagine what a Tubes show would be like today, as they're all nearing 60-- but hell, if they're still kickin', more power to 'em.
