(Okay, forget my last thread: I'm outta here AFTER I rant.)
I have interviews w/ four attorneys tomorrow at the firm I want to work at. It's raining in the WDC area, and that means ridiculous traffic. On an average day it takes between 1.5 and 2 hours to get to town from home.
My interviews begin at 9:30. Since it's raining, I'm leaving at 6:00. If I'm early, I'll sit in a coffee house or cafe. I'm pretty sure I'll at least be on time.
I go to the dry cleaners tonight to pick up my two black pairs of pants, both of which needed to be altered as well as cleaned. One hemmed, one the lining fixed. One pair is half of a kick-ass pinstripe suit; the plain black pair can stand in for the suit if necessary.
They said they'd be ready at 6:00 tonight.
They weren't.
Not only were they not ready, but they weren't even in the shop.
"Pick up at 7:00 tomorrow morning."
Um. I have to leave my house at six, not their shop at seven.
So I go to Macy's, hoping to find a grey suit. Found two awesome ones, both with pinstripes. Both looked horrible on me. So I bought a new black pinstripe suit.
Yes, I now have two black pinstripe suits.
Now: the pants were four inches too long. I'm thinking, great, I get to try to pin up a pair of lined slacks. But the saleswoman told me there was a tailor in the mall.
The tailor hemmed them in less than an hour. Guess who's getting all my alterations business from now on? :woohoo: for the tailor in the St Charles Town Center Mall!
I wanted to be snoozing with melatonin by now, but I have to figure out which shirt will go best with the suit -- or whether I should wear the matching tank that came with it.
Oh. My. God. This stress was the last thing I needed the night before these interviews. But I will calm down. Perhaps a nice cup of chamomile tea while I'm checking out my clothing.
Oh, my friends, thank you for listening to my rant. The DU Lounge is a port in a storm.
