Who here is dreading January in a way and please state your reasons
Edited on Tue Dec-30-03 01:27 AM by Valerie5555
I am because of things like how I am anticipating the first cold snaps of the winter.

On edit Am actually looking forward to it in some other ways like how it started getting lighter out for longer, the mail gets back to normal after Christmas and the details about certain "collectors and fan clubs" for certain collectible lines are unveiled.

On double edit There's a certain person or people here who dreaded it for a certain military age family member of theirs had his "marching orders," to go to IRAQ of all places.

Edited on Tue Dec-30-03 01:19 AM by 101 Proof
Because after January, it starts to get warm, days get longer, and summer is knocking at the door. I can't wait.

On edit: Me fail English? That's unpossible!

3. I am, because
I have it on good authority that "something" is likely to happen in January. Someting... big. And Not Good.

I could also state my feelings about January by asking you what you could take with you if you had only ten minutes to evacuate your home. Are you prepared?

Uh oh Hope it's not in Washington DC and if it is I will really hate Bush or * FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On edit if Calgary were hit with a "9 /11 type incident " I would still consider the Humane Society workers my real heroes for I would count on them to also ensure my recently SPCA adopted kitty, Merlin would be in good hands in that case and I bet I could count on Dale Hodges, our ward's council/alderperson to be our Rudy Guiliani.

On double edit I wonder if the incident would involve highjacked airliners again.

20. How can someone have it on good authority that something is
going to happen in January? Ties to terrorists? If so, report it to Ridgo the Clown. If an inside job, your "connection" should be documenting what he/she knows and going to SOMEONE in authority that they trust. Don't you think?

21. January is often a bad month for me
I seem to have bad luck at the start of the year. So I always dread it. Plus I'm never sure I want a new year--new chances for disappointment and disaster, all that uncertain future stretched out in front of me...and more time again since the last time things were really good.

34. You make your own luck
to a large degree. You dread the future because there are new chances for disappointment and disaster??? Well then you are almost certain to have them. Why not look at the future as a chance for great success and happiness instead? Then THAT can be your reality.

27. I never thought about it
I guess, cause it's just another month. And Texas weather in January
can vary from warm to cold. One morning can be 25, by afternoon, it could reach 70.

But we don't ever get snow anymore in my neighborhood. That sux. I haven't seen a pretty snowfall since the 70's. We had (for Texas anyway) some pretty good ones, and since we don't drive too well even on dry streets, anytime there was a hint of snowflakes, they would shut everything down. Then we'd go driving and playing in empty parking lots sliding like we were kids. Now I feel lucky if we get 1/4" of rain every 5 or 6 months. It's like the change in weather just forgot about us.

So, somebody throw a snowball for me. I would love to go out and play, just for a day ;-)

35. You are living for the next vacation???
Then you are in the wrong job. You need to find a vocation which is so enjoyable you wish the time would pass more slowly so you could do more of it. Life isn't about wanting time to pass. What kind of existence is that?

36. January used to be sort of benign, but for the last 10 years...
Some bad stuff has happened...

-My mom had her stroke.
-the Northridge earthquake happened.
-My mom broke her hip.
-I caught pneumonia.
-My mom took her final fall (but died in February).

Well, now that my mom has passed away, maybe all-things-January will get back into a gentle routine.

39. Snow and possibly returning to work
I hate friggin' snow. It's snowing now. Don't know how to drive in it. Don't care to learn. All I know is that it's cold and icy and if I try to drive I'll crash into something.

On a serious note, I've been on an extended medical leave of absence as I've been dealing with serious mental illness issues and am finally at a point where I may be able to work again.

Actually, I'm terrified at the prospect. I'm hoping to ease into a temporary position.

I'll feel better once the friggin' snow melts.

I HATE THE FRIGGIN' SNOW!!!
