Songs That Get Stuck In Your Head
Edited on Tue Dec-30-03 10:38 AM by CO Liberal
An item on this morning's "What's New" page on CompuServe listed the results of a survey taken by a professor at the University of Cincinnati. This is what the survey said were the three songs that got stuck in people's head most often:

1 - "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" by The Tokens

2 - The "Baby Back Ribs" jingle from the Chili's commercials.

3 - "Who Let The Dogs Out?"

For me, it's that stupid "sun will come out tomorrow" song from "Annie". What song gets stuck in YOUR head??

1. Lion Sleeps
is definately a sticker.

I used to start 'playing' Elton John's Rocket Man to get it out.

Now, guess what song gets easily stuck in my mind...

Grandson Jack got a fluffy yellow chicken for Christmas that plays the Chicken Dance when you press its wing. It was his favorite car toy and we heard it over and over and over and over....

Now it's my earworm.

6. Video Killed The Radio Star
Isn't that awful....Blaa!

It's in one of my exercise tapes. I don't mind the song while I'm workingout but the rest of the day I'm humming it.

7. "Butterfly" by that one-hit wonder group "Crazytown" a couple years ago.
That song pops in my head randomly and I can't get it out. It was in the movie "Orange County" a bunch of times and that's when it got stuck in my head.

8. Right now, it's "How Deep is Your Love?" by the BeeGees
Last week, it was "Love Shack" by the B-52's.

Clear Channel radio is fucking INSIDIOUS, I tell you. I hate both of these songs.

10. not exactly a popular song, then or now but...
"no no no no no no no no no"

Just that one line from Strawberry Wine by The Band.
Sometimes followed by:

"no no no no no, no no no no no"

from a Neil Young song I can't remember the name of right this second.

12. And You Could Follow That....
...with the refrain from "Nobody But Me" by The Human Beinz (circa 1966):

"No no no, no no no-no-no-no
No-no-no no - no-no-no-no
No no-no, no no-no
No no
No no no-no, no-no no-no
No no-no no no no."

11. Oh no! You made me think of it and now it's back. Heeeelp!!!
I still get stuck on "It's a small world" until I'm ready to tear my hair out! One trip to Disney world with my kids was all it took to implant it forever, hiding in the recesses of my brain, waiting for the right instant to pounce once again...

"Good Vibrations" being the most prominent one. That wasn't all that bad because I like them alright.

19. The all-time worst song to be running through your head
comes from a potty-training bear for young children:

I’m a Super Duper Pooper,
I can potty with the best.
No more diapers to get in my way,
I bet you are impressed!

I’m a Super Duper Pooper,
I know when I have to go.
Take a bow, I’m a big kid now,
I’m the best pooper you know!

If you guys really wanna know what it sounds like:
