help! My stupid computer just erased my camera
I was browsing the files on my camera memory stick on my G5 mac. The battery died on my camera and the mac registered that as unplugging the device abruptly. It deleted all my pictures. Is there any way to recover them?

I really need some of those pictures.

Thanks for the help

1. They may be there when you recharge your battery.

4. I'll spare any cornball jokes...
Sorry that happened to you; I've lost files myself once... In seriousness, find an undelete or picture recovery application for the Mac -- many of these types of apps are made for Windows.

Also back up all your original images onto computer before browsing or doing anything else in the future. Use the camera as a camera and not a big file storage device; it'll save on battery life. Especially with RAW, TIF, or BMP images, space gets eaten for breakfast. DVD+R DL comes quite in handy...

9. Possibly.
If the memory module was formatted in the camera, it should be accessible in either platform.

I plugged my Sony Memory Stick in my Linux computer and it has no qualms pulling up the files.

If they make that software for the Mac, do buy it for yourself regardless. There are many types of things that cause problems and these memory modules can flake out over time too.

j/k I know what you mean. Being a handyman in these sorts of manners, I felt obligated to jump in.

And yet I'm still single... :spray:

6. Rest at ease your pictures are still there
I had a friend who had the same problem.
When you delete or erase something It is not erased it is hidden and made available for rewriting.
There are various programs on the net that can bring your pictures back.Even one's you deleted on purpose.
What type memory card sd? mmc?
all is probably not lost

11. It doesn't have to be the same computer
http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Best/recover-sd-card.html
here is what came up on a quick search
find the cheapest one and download it and if it works buy it
Normally programs like these will show you that they work but not let you recover your pics until you purchase them

12. This has worked great for me on Mac OS X
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/20313

PhotoRescue lives up to its name... I think you can download it and it will run and let you know if it can recover your files, but you need to pay the shareware fee to actually recover them. I'd suggest it for anyone with a digital camera...

Good luck!
