1. Hawkeye Fight Song
I set my alarm for 8am, the start of the pre-game show on the radio for the Outback Bowl. What a great way to start the new year as a Hawkeye fanatic. Taking it to the Florida Gators in a hostile Florida environment. It is great to be a Hawk.

10. Bonnie Prince Billy "I See a Darkness"
Gah.

Well you're my friend . . .
And can you see . . .
Many times, we've been out drinking
And many times, we've shared our thoughts
But did you ever, ever notice?
The kind of thoughts I've got?
Well you know I have a love
A love for everyone I know
And you know I have a drive
To live, I won't let go
But could you see its opposition
Comes rising up sometimes?
And its dreadful end position
Comes blacking in my mind

And then I see a darkness
And then I see a darkness
Did you know how much I love you?
There's a hope that somehow you
Can save me from this darkness

Well I hope that someday buddy
We have peace in our lives
Together, or apart
Alone, or with our wives
We can stop our whoring
And pull the smiles inside
And light it up forever
And never go to sleep
My best unbeaten brother
This isn't all I see

12. Jimi Hendrix
playing "Auld Lang Syne!"

He performed it live on New Years Eve 1970 at the Fillmore West, and I stumbled across a mp3 of it on the internet. (So sue me, Lars!)

We played it at midnight and it blew everyone away.

19. Finbar Furey - "New York Girls"
...from the "Gangs of New York" soundtrack (the song everyone was singing in the old Brewery when Amsterdam Vallon returned for the first time as an adult).

As I walked down to Chatham Street a fair maid I did meet
She asked me please to see her home, she lived on Bleeker Street

To me weigh, you Santy, My dear Annie
Oh, you New York gals, Can't you dance the polka?
To me weigh, you Santy, My dear Annie
Oh, you New York gals, Can't you dance the polka?

When we got to Bleeker Street, we stopped at 44
Her mother and her sister there to meet us at the door

To me weigh, you Santy, My dear Annie
Oh, you New York gals, Can't you dance the polka?
To me weigh, you Santy, My dear Annie
Oh, you New York gals, Can't you dance the polka?

When I got inside the house, the drinks were passed around
The liquor was so awful strong my head went round and round

To me weigh, you Santy, My dear Annie
Oh, you New York gals, Can't you dance the polka?
To me weigh, you Santy, My dear Annie
Oh, you New York gals, Can't you dance the polka?

Then we had another drink before we sat to eat
The liquor was so awful strong I quickly fell asleep

To me weigh, you Santy, My dear Annie
Oh, you New York gals, Can't you dance the polka?
To me weigh, you Santy, My dear Annie
Oh, you New York gals, Can't you dance the polka?

When I woke next morning, I had an aching head
There I was Jack all alone, stark naked in the bed

To me weigh, you Santy, My dear Annie
Oh, you New York gals, Can't you dance the polka?
To me weigh, you Santy, My dear Annie
Oh, you New York gals, Can't you dance the polka?

We all watched on this pocket group and lady friends were gone
And there I was Jack all alone, stark naked in the room

To me weigh, you Santy, My dear Annie
Oh, you New York gals, Can't you dance the polka?
To me weigh, you Santy, My dear Annie
Oh, you New York gals, Can't you dance the polka?

I'm looking round this liquor room, there's nothing but I see
But a woman's shift and apron that were no use to me

To me weigh, you Santy, My dear Annie
Oh, you New York gals, Can't you dance the polka?
To me weigh, you Santy, My dear Annie
Oh, you New York gals, Can't you dance the polka?

The floor I eye for a suit of clothes, down Chelsea street forlorn
Till Martin Churchill took me in and sent me round Cape Horn

To me weigh, you Santy, My dear Annie
Oh, you New York gals, Can't you dance the polka?
To me weigh, my honey, My dear Annie
Oh, you New York gals, Can't you dance the polka?
