Does birch go with unstained pine?
Just doing some internet window shopping for furniture. Will birch chairs go with a solid pine table? (the table comes unstained)

1. Birch will probably be lighter
than the pine.

If you're looking for a match, fugeddaboudit.

Birch is usually white to light tan, and pine usually has a yellowish tinge. But, there are darker birches and lighter pines.

Birch also has a much tighter grain structure, and no knots in the best stuff.

If you want a match, you'll have to play with staining them both. The grain difference probably won't be too noticable with the chairs.

2. Thanks!

These are the chairs, don't think I could stain them. I could get another table though. :)

3. They're lacquered...
so don't even think about refinishing them. Hopeless task even for an expert.

Look at them in the store, if there's one around, and see for yourself if they fit.

You could bleach and stain the pine to match, if you wanted to. A little tricky if you've never done it before, though.

(yer welcome)

4. Is it yellow pine or white pine?
If it's yellow pine, how about black lacquer on the table? With the birch chairs, that would be stunning.

If it's white pine you should be okay.
