Venturing Outside In The Snow In Estes Park! (pic heavy)
First we looked up at the roof:

Then we decided to play a little:

Then we helped Poppa clean the driveway:

Then we needed a drink:

Can we stay out longer Dad?

Anyone else have snow pics today?

2. My grandparents used to own a little red cabin in Estes Park, just a couple of
blocks up from the lake. I wonder if the cabin is still there. We used to go there some summers and explore Rocky Mountain National Park when I was a kid.

5. No Telling!
my parents lived here when they were first married for a couple of summers

then they retired and bought a condo here. Then they decided to move here.

It's changed a lot!

12. Maybe the cabin they had doesn't exist any more. My sister went there a couple of
years ago, on vacation to RMNP, and drove around the area where the cabin was, but wasn't sure if she saw it or not. Either it has been painted or remodeled or both. We have pictures of it from the 1950s and 1960s, it was a tiny red cabin with only one bedroom, a kitchen and a living room. There was no address to go by, since in those days those little streets had no names, and they got their mail at the post office. It was about 2 blocks south of Lake Estes at the west end of Lake Estes. I remember walking to the lake one day in 1968, there were no houses between their cabin and the lake. They lived in Chevy Chase, MD most of the year but drove out to Estes Park and spent every summer there for about 40 years, then sold the cabin in the 1970s.

9. It's Ansel Adams' photograph called "Moonrise, Hernandez, New Mexico" except
that I colorized it. I believe he took both color and b/w photographs of that scene, but the b/w one is what became famous. I have seen the color version of it but I couldn't find it online so I cheated and added my own color to it.

3. Well...
seeing a I'm a block from the Southernmost Point here...no snow pics. It's about 80. But I'm jealous, 'cause I love snow! Looks like you guys had plenty. Is more expected? That sky looks awful dark.

11. he's a siberian husky
and goes totally nuts in the snow

late last night I took him out front and he ran through the lawn. The snow was up to his chin in places and he bounced and hopped and ran and burrowed and ran and jumped and ran . . .

doggie ecstacy!

14. I have an update.
In case you missed my pictures yesterday, the first is from summer so you can get some perspective, the second is from yesterday, and the final one is this afternoon once the snow stopped.

16. HOLY CRAP, that's a LOT of snow!
How much did you get, anyway?

We got 6-8 inches in Oklahoma City three weeks ago, and it nearly shut down the town (worst snowstorm in years--and the snow stayed around for several days, which is really unusual). If we ever had that kind of storm, no one would come out until spring!

19. I'm not really sure the official amount
I know that this morning about 6:00 they were saying 22 inches but it kept snowing until about noon. So, my best guess is probably somehwere between 24 and 26 inches. But there were drifts much higher because of the wind.

17. Updated Estes Snow Totals
per the local news (Denver)

32 inches!

We had nearly a foot on Sunday and it was still there too

That's nearly 4 feet!

I'm skeptical that it is really that much, but it is a hell of a lot of snow.

Haven't seen that much snow since I was a kid growing up in Utah.
