Well, I got the kids one of those Wii consoles for Xmas. Problem was, it didn't work. I kept getting a disc error message, and certain parts of the programming couldn't be accessed.
So, I called the Wii service # Tuesday morning. Their solution was simple - they immediately shipped out a new console to me free of charge. They even paid the UPS shipping both ways. I had to give them a credit card #. They gave me 21 days to ship back the non-working unit and said that I'd be charged for the replacement if I didn't send the old unit back. They also said that if the 21 days lapsed they would call me first to see if I had shipped the unit or not before charging my card.
Well, the replacement unit showed up yesterday morning and works fine. Today, we shipped the damaged unit back via UPS in the same box that the new unit arrived in. Nintendo provided a pre-addressed, barcoded/tracking number shipping label, bubble wrap and even shipping tape to re-seal the package. As I said, they even paid the return shipping.
Not bad - a 2-day turnaround and only a bit of expense for us in gas to drive the 3 miles to UPS.
We're always bitching about corporations and their screw ups. It's nice to see someone doing it right for a change.
