20 Pound Stray Cat Gets Stuck In Doggie Door - Rescued

<snip>

The Oregon Humane Society recovered a 20.2-pound stray cat that was found halfway stuck in a doggie door Wednesday in Gresham, Ore.

The Humane Society said the cat was trying to steal food from a home that had put out food for its own cats.

"I heard quite a ruckus when I went into my garage," said Jadwiga Drozdek, who cares for six cats at her Gresham home. "It was hilarious to see this big cat struggling to get in. I helped him out of the door and gave him a plate of food on the patio."

The cat was described as "unusually large" by the Humane Society and was nicknamed "Goliath."

The Humane Society had planned to put the cat up for adoption, but a neighbor of the owner who saw the report on TV has claimed the cat and said he had been missing for six months. The neighbor was to pick up the cat on Thursday.

1. Look at the size of that head!
I've never seen such a big head on a cat. I wonder how much he weighed before he got lost.

4. Best comment: our local weatherman in Los Angeles this morning.
They showed a quick teaser shot of the cat before going to the weather guy, and when the camera cut to him, he looked sort of stunned, paused for a second, and said "whoa...that's a lot of cat face!"

Which cracked me up, as that was pretty much my reaction when I saw it.

7. O...M..G...that cat looks exactly like a fatter version of my....
big boy rescue cat. He "only" weighs 18 lbs, but his head certainly doesn't look that huge. I know he also would not be above burglary in order to scarf down anything that resembles food.

8. Missing for six months? He must have been living at the local KFC!
"I helped him out and gave him a plate of food on the patio"

She would have done better giving the cat a wind up mouse or something to chase around for exercise instead!

:)

20. I love that Kliban cartoon, but a slight correction in words:
The line is "Bite they tiny heads off...nibble on they tiny feet." Sorry, I couldn't help but correct it--I think it's even funnier with ALL the incorrect grammar. I think that's why I always got such a kick out of it.

16. My boy Merlin is 26ish(he's lost a little) pounds...but his head is
nowhere near that size, and I thought he had a big head.

Merlin's feet are comically small though.

22. Orson Wells came back as a cat!

Used to have a place with a small pet door. My cats would lure a friend's dog to try and get through it when they visited us. Dog was a Lab/Great Dane cross. His head would get stuck every time and the cats would use him for a speed-bag.

Bad kitties!
