OT: How do you make a browser push a certain font as the generic?
For reasons unknown to me, whenever I view a page which calls for "serif" family fonts, I get something that looks like a fantasy/cursive font. It's nearly unreadable and definitely hard on the eyes.

I've went into the font section in Firefox and made some changes (even tho there was no call to anything out of the ordinary -- Times/Times New Roman, Arial/Helvetica, Courier.

How does a browser decide which font to use when the page just calls for something from the serif or sans-serif family? Is there anyway I can change that?

Thanks for tuning into yet another addition of 'CornField asks a CornBall question'

1. Depends on your browser.
I don't know about IE, but in Firefox, go to Tools --> Options --> Content, then click the Advanced button in the "Fonts & Colors" section. There you can uncheck the "Allow pages to choose their own fonts..." option.
