I wrote a new poem today

yeah, big deal, I know...

But I've had a dry spell, not writing a single thing for months, but then this image kept bouncing around my head the past few nights and wouldn't go away.

I kept having a vision of me sitting on the rocks on the shore of Lake Michigan reading out loud, with someone sitting next to me, her arm around my waist, listening to me, watching the waves, and just feeling peaceful...

I can't tell you how it feels to have an entire poem plop out onto the page.

It felt good to write again.

1. when I go for periods of not writing

I always have to remind myself that something's being gestated in my unconsious and will find it's way to page in its time. But you're right, it's always such a good feeling when it finally hits the paper - or computer screen.

So I wrote them down.......

And they were pretty good too, if I do say so myself!

that kind of ripped my heart out a little
