A shooting star falls
her hard crust cracks, exposing
incandescent pain

nine hundred mile flight
fleeing from the void that was
to earthly pleasures

a lonely brightness
a longing for belonging
sacrificed in vain

the earth is unmoved
by such gestures of longing
and swallows her whole

1. Very poignant

I think limericks may be more appropriate in the lounge. Haikus are too high faluting.

There once was a lady who went to the shuttle
Her love life was kind of a muddle
One day she found her man was not true
So she thought of pounding her rival blue
Alas, because of this felony she has no one to cuddle.
