3. Whan that Aprill with its shoures soute...
Edited on Sat Feb-10-07 11:16 PM by Writer
The drougt of Marche hath perced to the roote
And bathed every veyne in swich liquor
Of which vertue engendered is the flour.
Whan Zephires eek with his sweete breethe
Inspired hath in every holt and hethe
The tendre croppes and the yonge sonne
Hath in a ram his halve cours yronne
And smalle foweles maken melodye
That slepen all the nicht with open eeye
(So pricketh them, nature in hir courages,
Than longen folke that goon on pilgrimages).
And palmeres for to seeken stronge strondes
To ferne halwes, cowth in sondre londes
And to every shires ende,
Of Engelond to Canterbury they wende
The holy blissful martyr for to seke
That hem hath holpen, whan that they were seeke.

Okay... I memorized this orally in high school and I think I remember how to write it... how close was I?

Writer the Lurker.
