How will I know if my cough is bronchitis?

I am recovering from my second cold since New Years. I had a cough with this one and it has gone from a dry cough to one with more mucus. It kinda sounds like bronchitis, but how would I know? I have a dr.'s appt. on Friday but if I have bronchitis I don't know if I should wait. Could it possibly be pneumonia?

As for pneumonia - if you have to ask - you probably don't have it. The day I woke up with it I KNEW something was wrong. I felt like there was an elephant on my chest.

I'd go ahead and go to the doc if it were me. Then again, I had chronic bronchitis as a kid so I tend to go sooner rather than later. Usually. :P

3. Sometimes it gets "richer", yes.

It feels like it is getting an accumulation of mucus at some times. I'm feeling tired, but I am guessing it's all the coughing...

4. You need to call your doctor and explain how sick you are and ask them to work you in for an appoint

today or tomorrow. Friday is way too late. You'll end up in the emergency room if you're not careful. :(

5. Thanks. I think I've come to that conclusion.

I've had bronchitis before and it crept up on me then wham!

At least they can cure bronchitis with antibiotics. Wish I didn't get it in the first place, tho.

I had the flu for 2 1/2 weeks, so I can relate to how much it sucks being sick. The lingering cough was a particular drag. Hang in there. :hug:

that I will make that dr's. appt tomorrow and get this thing resolved!

Sorry you had the flu. I'm going to ask for a flu shot when I go to the dr. this time.
