Ever have a bruise so bad, that it was numb for days later?
Edited on Thu Mar-01-07 02:59 AM by SoCalDem
I have not had a bloody knee since I was about 8 yrs old, but the other day I tripped over a damned cat-bed, and down I went..like a ton 'o bricks.. I managed to hit a grout line in the tile floor and bloodied my knee, but my upper calf/shin landed full force on the edge on the vacuum cleaner (yeh..I know I should put the damned thing away :eyes:..)

The bruise is about 4 inches long and the skin is still numb to the touch. Immediately after a vein was a bit noticeable and very purple, so I suppose the blood is still in there.. It's creepy :)

no pics---- "fat legs"

1. eeeYep...
LOL No fat legs

Played field hockey (badly, JV as a senior). Played sweeper, the last position before goal. Where they put the slow women. Got nailed by a 90-MPH shot on goal, just above the medial mallaleous (the inner ankle bone for all you non-anatomy-snobs ;)). Twenty-six years ago. Still numb.

:hi:

5. my worstest bruise ever -
The inside of my left forearm was left absolutely PURPLE/BLACK and numb a few years ago, due to a mishap at hockey practice.

I was a goalie, and had borrowed a friend's 'body armor' for practice (since mine was still wet and stinky from the previous night's game). The 'armor' is designed to protect the chest, abdomen, and arms of the goalie IF it fits right...

guess what?!

Yep... there was an open spot above my 'trap' (that catcher's mitt looking glove) in the inner left forarm area, from about 2" above my wrist to my elbow.

I was taking shots from one of the coaches (whose slapshots we had radar-gun clocked at 90mph+), and my angle was off a little... and WHAM... right in the weak spot.

Ow...fuck...ow.

I shook it off, and stayed in the net... about 2 minutes later... WHAM...

Ow...fuck...ow...fuck...ow.

Fortunately, the head coach blew the whistle about then, and practice was over for the night. By the time i got my gear off in the locker room, my whole inner forearm was black. The bruise lasted about 2 weeks, and was a never-ending topic of conversation for co-workers and customers (i worked in a sporting goods store), who until then had thought i was joking about playing hockey at nights.

6. I got a bruise on my upper left arm this past July.
Don't know how I got it or remember because I'm always runnng into things and burning myself on the stove or oven so don't even think about it. But this bruise never ever went away and I still have it only it's pretty faded but still noticeable.

7. Um...part of my shin is permanently numb.
Until I smash it or get kicked in it. Then, I drop to the ground in excruciating pain.

8. I have a spot on my right thigh that's been numb for 7 years
Took a spill off a horse at a dead gallop, dropped and rolled and had a HUGE bruise from the top of my thigh to my knee. Incredible colors. Three days later, I went off yet another horse and broke my back. It was a bad week for horseback riding. ~sigh~

Anyway, the leg swelled up hugely - for four months, I slept on my left side because I couldn't sleep on my back, stomach or right side.

To this day, there's a spot on my thigh about 2 inches in diameter that is numb and hard to the touch - scar tissue on the muscle itself.

And for the record, I was back on a horse within 2 weeks. Some of us never learn.
