Did you ever consider "Bohemian Rhapsody" to be about being gay and struggling with it?
Edited on Thu Mar-01-07 10:02 AM by bbernardini
I recently rented the "Classic Albums" DVD about the making of Queen's "A Night At The Opera." In the bonus feature about "Bohemian Rhapsody," one of the people being interviewed says that he thinks the song's lyric could be considered (at least in part) to be about "being gay and struggling with it." ("Struggling" meaning not being able to be who you really are because of (in this case) Freddie Mercury's public visibility.) Thoughts?

1. Why would a band named Queen write a song about being gay?

3. Considering the vocalists, that wouldn't surprise me.
Never thought about it like that. "I Want To Break Free" could be considered in the same way (although Freddie didn't write it).
