"Goldfinger" the James Bond has new meaning in today's times! AMC Now!
Edited on Fri Jan-09-04 08:26 PM by KoKo01
AMC is running the old James Bond's. Ian Fleming, Ludlum and John LeCarre were trying to tell us "oldie" DU'ers something. Just viewing a little of "Goldfinger" I see shades of "World Gold" and "Gold Bug Mania."

For those who haven't seen it (Newbies to the World)...take a look....it has NEW RELEVANCE to TODAY's World......including the Campyness. For "Oldies".....oh isn't it a huge de ja vu.........

2. I've been watching those too
saw, "Dr. No," the other night. They also were running Pierce Bronsnan as 007 the other night. Just not the same. Hey I'm right there with ya! I was thinking the same thing...

Sean Connery rocked in the day...extremely sexy

5. Very close to the book...
I was a James Bond nut as a kid... not the movies, the books.

The first few James Bond movies were fairly true to the books. That's why they're so good. I saw Dr No the other night as well. That film is the first James Bond film and incredibly close to Ian Fleming's book, which is what makes it so cool and gritty.

As the films got more popular, they veered away from the books more and more. "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" was the last one that even resembled the book. After that, the franchise went downhill, IMHO.

4. True Fact
The gold depository at Fort Knox (prominently featured in "Goldfinger") is directly across the road from the post laundry.
John
I got stuck on laundry detail in basic training. Trust me on this.
