Some earlier satellite photos of Mars

I hope they get a better look soon:

and this too

actual NASA photos--Malin Space Sciences released thousands of satellite photos from 1998 or thereabouts, taken by the US satellite that's still orbiting Mars. Scientists and Mars hobbyists are trying to independently analyze this data dump, along with Viking images from the 70s.

The above are but 2 examples of many. The pictures are fascinating but I am skeptical about the imaginative/speculative/scientific explanations offered sometimes, especially the anthropomorphizing (seeing giant faces or the like in Martian geological forms--and sometimes the most "credentialed" experts, like Hoagland or T.Flandern, are the most fanciful!) Take the material at these links however you wish, I'm not connected with them. I just think it's a fascinating subject. Kinda fun for open minds with a paranoid streak:

Here are some other cool/whacky/nerdy Mars sites I like to visit.

This one has cool animations of single spots on mars observed over a few months for a seasonal change.

Let the debunking begin!
