Kazaa Delivers More Than Music
Forty-five percent of the executable files downloaded through Kazaa, the most popular file-sharing program, contain malicious code like viruses and Trojan horses, according to a new study.

Out of 4,778 files downloaded in one month, Bruce Hughes, director of malicious code research at security firm TruSecure, found that nearly half of them contained various types of nefarious code.

1. anyone downloading windows executables from something like Kazaa
is a complete idiot. You don't know where the files come from or what they are, and on a Windows machine that means viruses and spyware.

That's more that just asking for it, that's signing up and buying a ticket.

3. If you must download .exe's
By all means, you MUST have a good antivirus, such as Norton.

Doing otherwise is suicide.

5. If you have Kazaa...
kick yourself hard then remove it immediately from Add Remove Programs. Then download Ad-Aware and run it to remove the spyware. Kazaa is poison. It is killing your pc whether you realize it or not.

Look in download.com for a better alternative and read the reviews before downloading. My favorite is DirectConnect, but I also like Blubster for music.

6. Kazaa Lite is pretty good
It's a version of Kazaa that has been re-written without all the spyware.

Shareaza is pretty good too.

10. Not only is Kazaa-lite spyware free
It's actually vastly improved over regular Kazaa. It will block out known RIAA IP's. It'll allow you to search for more sources more often, just all kinds of good stuff.

15. I second that. I love KaZaa-Lite.
And furthermore, I download executables all from Kazaa all the time. I always scan for viruses, and yes, about 25% of the time I find something. But I've never had a problem.

13. yes it is good
I haven't used it since I moved to DC/DC++. I heard that Kazaa does stuff to block it and then you're out of luck until the next version comes out. And I think you still use regular Kazaa without the spyware. There's fake spyware out there that will trick it.
