I vacumed, but it was futile until we empty the filter... I can't do it cause of allergies...but the vac didn't pick up shit...d'oh

and I'd check the roller too. May depend on the model, but I have never had a mere filter keep a vacuum from picking up. Many times, however, I have over-filled the bag. Even on my bagless. It fills up with dog hair amazingly or astoundingly fast.
