What is the bus fare in your area?
In my area, the Bus company recently raised bus fares to $2.00 for an adult. You also get a free, one time use bus transfer.

A monthly bus pass costs $40.00.

How much is the bus fare in your area?

1. Here in Austin..
It's $.50 for a ride. And if you're a student, you can get a $5 month pass.

5. Every time I've used it,
it's always on time. And there are racks attached to the front of each bus so that you can put your bicycle on them if you want to ride your bike and then go by bus. Very convenient!

17. It has improved greatly if this is true.
I had such bad experiences with Capitol Metro in 1996 that I would not ride it since.
To be fair there were lots of changes in management since then.

I really should look into the option in combination with my bike.

I need to be more open minded - I am waiting for the light Rail initiative to come back to Ausitn. Maybe it will pass this timel.

A 2-hour city ticket costs €2.20 , a month costs €58.80 . The mandatory student ticket costs €228 a year.

All tickets are good for streetcars, the subway (U-Bahn), the commuter trains (S-Bahn and R Express), busses and night busses.

$1.25 per ride

25¢ transfer to non-Metro lines (Santa Monica, Culver City, etc.)

$3.00 for a day pass, allowing you to go anywhere on the Metro system.

11. $1.00 in Houston (1 way, 1 transfer within 2 hours)
Or $2.00 for a Day Pass--good 24 hours for most routes; excludes some far-suburban express lines.

The Day Pass now also includes the rail line, just opened, that goes up & down Main Street. Of course, we used to have many buses that went up & down Main Street quite efficiently--but the new train is much cuter! EVENTUALLY, they may get around to expanding it.

I commute by bus 4 days out of 5.

15. in Ithaca, NY: $1.50!
and rumors of fare increase to $2!!

There seems to be really poor management at the regional bus company, wasting money on a faux-trolley that is the most uncomfortable thing ever, GPS system for buses (this is a SMALL place!), not checking drivers' backgrounds (one reason for high fares is payouts for drunk driver who hit pedestrian).

The system is a really good one for a town this size, but the fare is getting ridiculous.

18. WHy bus when I can walk from one end to the next in ten minutes
But in Vancouver, it is about $2.00 for on zone with a transfer (that includes skytrain, seabus). A monthly is $60 bucks. The best deal though is the West coast express pass. For $120 a month (from my station) you can ride the WCE and that pass doubles as your bus pass. If you buy it all together it's saves you over $120 a month.

19. In Philadelphia...
the base fare is $2 cash, or a $1.60 token. Transfers are $.60, I think. Weekly passes on city division transit (city buses, subway, trolleys, and the el) are $17, monthly passes are $70. Suburban division transit depends on what fare zone you live in. Commuter trains go from $3 to $7 one-way offpeak, depending on zones.

I have no idea what the fares are for Harrisburg's meager bus system. I've never been on it.
