Don't remember where I heard that.

1. That's because cats are clean, fastidious animals
who won't eat rotted meat. Dogs, on the other hand, will eat anything. :)

4. ...on the premise that if it turns out not be food, you can always throw it up later.

10. Not true!
Cats will throw up food too.

The comedianne Suzanne Westenhoefer once said in a stand up routine that "cats are the bulimics of the animal kingdom." It's so true, I have two of my own little bulimics at home.

19. True. One of mine is a "puker".
It's usually dry and very easy to clean up. I don't think this is unusual for healthy cats to do.

42. That reminds me of Elaine Boosler
She said her husband came home with some gourmet dog treats that cost $750. He asked her, "Do you think he'll like them?" She said, "I don't know - he's in the back yard eating poop - I'll go ask him."

3. Cats want to eat you RIGHT NOW.
Being the nefarious predators they are, they're just waiting for the right moment.

7. I had one cat who would lick your skin
and lick and lick and lick until he got it very, very clean. Then he'd chomp.

8. I have a cat that does the same thing.
If I even sleep an hour late she's in the bedroom to commence the licking. Maybe she's just preparing for what she knows is inevitable?

11. My cats like to lick me too.
I just thought they were being cute and clean animals (and wanted me to be clean), but I think you're right. Maybe they instinctively know what's coming and they're preparing...menacingly...

22. She's not showing you love.
She's seeing if you taste good. ;)

Actually one of my cats is the same way. She likes to expose her belly, and when I reach out to rub it, she'll playfully grab my hand with her claws and bite my hand. Then she'll immediately lick me 2 or 3 times as if to let me know she's just playing...like I don't already know. It's very cute. :loveya:

He licks and licks and licks -- and then he bites, though not hard. I have to wonder whether he's actually tasting me.

when they're washing themselves.. how they spit and rub their teeth in their fur and make that noise, like SERIOUS CLEANING.
I posted a picture of my licker, Puddy. This is her waiting for dinner:

9. not necessarily: dogs have been known kill their people, and immediately start the feasting...
It's thought that the so-called "primitive" breeds (Malamutes, Samoyeds, Wolfdogs, etc) are more likely to do this.

27. it's SHOCKING... because it's true!
Even your everyday nonfatal pit bull attacks sometimes involve the dog scarfing down portions of a still-living victim's body:

April 26, 2004 , Hodgenville, Ky. The Stinnett family kept their pit bull on a chain in their back yard, where they allowed their 4-year-old daughter to play. The dog got free, attacked the girl, and ripped off three-quarters of her scalp. Sheriffs cut open the dog's stomach and removed the scalp, which the dog ate, but a plastic surgeon could reattach only part of it. The child survived, will have a total of six or sever surgeries, and will never have a normal appearance.

24. I heard a story on the news this morning
about captive tigers in China. They want to re-introduce them to the wild. They would dump an antelope carcass out for them to feed on but for the longest time, they just thought it was a toy. Eventually, they got the idea.

36. Yep, because cats start BEFORE their owners are deceased.
My oldest loves to take a swipe at us and then lick the skin out from under her nails with a sadistic satisfied look on her face. She loves the taste of human flesh. Anybody who tries to fuck with her mommy ( me ) gets it even worse, believe it or not.

They wouldn't recognize as food anything that doesn't come out of a bag...or a can on holidays. The other, well, let's just say I've learned to sleep with one eye open :)

Spent some time with a guy once who had a cat and woke up several times during the night with the cat sitting right next to my face, trying to chew on my hair.

Totally creeped me out. :hide:
