Why does pineapple juice come in cans?
Orange juice is refrigerated and comes in cartons and plastic jugs. Same for cranberry juice, apple juice, grapefruit juice...

But pineapple juice seems to only come in cans. I have to dig around to find an old-style can opener to even drink the stuff.

4. Pineapple juice comes in cartons
All the other juices you mentioned can also be purchased in cans. Not all orange juice is refrigerated.

I've never seen Orange Juice in cans.

Maybe I should shop for juice at a supermarket instead of a liquor store.

13. Maybe your store carries different products than mine?
I buy this orange juice. It comes in large cans, like the grapefruit juice, I can't find the image for it though.

Orange juice in cans

Grapefruit juice in cans.

Pineapple juice in cartons.

23. What about frozen concentrate?
If you buy juice in a tin can you have to pour the rest of the juice into a pitcher or big jar anyway, or the can gives it a metallic taste.
I like getting juice frozen better than buying an acidic liquid in a plastic jug, maybe it leeches some stuff out of any kind of plastic, as well as the plastic lining metal cans.

TOXIC CHEMICAL BPA LEACHING INTO CANNED FOODS
An alarming new study from the Environmental Working Group analyzed samples of canned fruit, vegetables, soda, and baby formula on sale in the nation's supermarkets and found that more than 50% were tainted with a chemical linked to birth defects, ADHD and cancer. The chemical, bisphenol A (BPA), is an ingredient in plastics that lines food cans. According to the study, the chemical has been leaching into foods at levels up to 200 times the government's recommended "safe" level of exposure.

24. pineapple juice comes in cartons as well-
check the refrigerated section. the stuff in cans doesn't need to be refrigerated until opened. the stuff in cartons needs to stay cold always.

No, canning is cheap in so many ways. Plus there are usually canneries near the pineapple plantations.

Trader Joe's pineapple juice comes in a plastic jug. The kind I got tonight is just a pineapple, complete with pineapple and juice.
