1. Those actually aren't a bad idea. Long bodied dogs like that are prone to back and hip troubles.
One's supposed to keep them from jumping around, especially if they're pudgy. Though of course with some dogs that's like telling them not to eat cat poop- no matter how well intentioned you are they just don't want to listen.

4. lots of jumping is bad for doggy joints.
older dogs can get the hang of it -- try teaching a young dog who LOVES the jumping.

anyway -- i think they are a great idea.

8. We're going to have to make
something similar for our cat. She's getting older and a little on the pudgier side. Our bed is pretty high and she's showing signs of arthritis in her front legs, probably exacerbated by all the years of jumping down from the bed. Poor kitty.

10. My GF got one for her Chihuahua and the dog WONT USE IT AT ALL!
Like she is afraid of it. Thirty dolars down the drain. Plus they sent her another one errantly(no charge on her card). So we have two that we may now use for plant stands.

11. Use a ramp or build your own
These are not well made (plastic covered by removeable and washable fabric) and are difficult for many dogs to use because of the short depth of the stairs and the resulting angle of ascent and descent.

I fashioned a ramp for one of my small dogs. Used a board and covered it with a carpet remanant. It stores nicely under furniture when not needed.
