Looks as if it's going to be a big release movie.
And who says that Hollywood is having a drought of ideas for films! :sarcasm:
I read this announcement off of Yahoo.

Christina Ricci gears up for "Speed Racer"
Saturday April 14 1:03 PM ET

Christina Ricci is joining "Matrix" creators Larry and Andy Wachowski's live-action adaptation of the 1960s cartoon "Speed Racer."

Emile Hirsch, Susan Sarandon and John Goodman already have boarded the high-octane Warner Bros. project, which is based on the anime series created by Tatsuo Yoshida for Japanese audiences and later imported to the U.S.

Hey, whose going to play "Racer X"?

Okay, here's the deal. The Mach 5 better have those saws that come out the front, and those "legs" that make it jump or I am staying home!!

1. That was my son's favorite cartoon.
Wonder how it will fare as a "live-action adaptation"?

"Go Speed Racer, go Speed Racer, go Speed Racer, Go-oooooh!"

2. another fond childhood memory about to be trashed
by Hollywood no doubt. This was one of my favorites as a child. I really think the idea of a live action movie sucks. They will ruin it I tell ya!x(

6. Didn't they tell in the original cartoon?
I thought at some Speed did find out who Racer X was. I haven't seen the toon in years and years.
The only one episode that is even remotely remembered was the one about the "Mammoth Car" that melted down into gold or something.

4. Who's gonna play Chim Chim?

Speed Racer was a great cartoon. I'm curious as to how they can make a live action version of it with the jumping cars, the razors that come out from the side, ect. It was cool in the cartoon, but it will be hard not to make it cheesey in a real movie.

10. They made a Scooby Doo movie
and a sequel I believe. The fun of the cartoon (Speed Racer) was that it was such bad animation, that's the whole point. As a movie? I'm not holding my breath. Next up-'Clutch Cargo'.
