"House" Love it? Or Hate it?
I just love the obnoxious bastid! Just when you think he can't sink any lower, he comes up with an even more vile zinger.

Tonight's episode is supposed to be the most shocking and controversial to date. I can't even imagine, since last weeks episode left me feeling so queasy on so many levels.

I saw him on Ellen a couple months ago, and in person he is NOTHING like the character he plays. He was an endearing fellow, and very much a gentleman. Which just makes him a great actor in my mind.

Any other "House" fans?

1. Fan of the actor
He's a great comedian, if you can imagine him in that role.

10. Loved him in "Black Adder."
When I first started watching "House" it was a little surreal to see him playing such an intense and nasty person in a drama. I still occasionally flash back to seeing him as Prince George, which is great fun.

16. Me too. Esp. as Lieutenant The Honourable George Colthurst St. Bartleigh
in Series 4.

George: "Great Scott, sir! You mean the moment's finally arrived for us to give Harry Hun a good old British-style thrashing, six of the best, trousers down?"

Blackadder: "...If you mean, 'Are we all going to get killed?', then...yes."

the princess and one of his lines was..."come get some German sausage"...or something along those lines...gosh that was funny..

2. I love it! Must see TV
in my house. ;-)

It's funny, because I have known MDs who are very much like House, minus the drug habit... but still obnoxious know it alls. And you know what? They do.

Usually if I'm a fan of someone's I'm a fan of other stuff they do... there's something about the material they choose that resonates with me. Hugh Laurie is a huge talent, IMO.

5. That drug habit adds an interesting dynamic to his character, doesn't it?
I missed the first season, and thus the accident that resulted in the severe leg pain. And it's not like he ever set out to get high - he really has some unbearable pain. And what's amazing is that he can still function so well as a physician, in spite of the pain and the addiction.

to screw up because of it though.

Sadly, MD addiction is really hushed up. These guys have HUGE, egos and do not take lightly to any indication that they have any personal weaknesses.

9. Love the character. The show's a little silly at times.
I think Gregory House is one of the best characters on TV right now. But the show's premise fails whenever you happen to be familiar with some of the diseases they talk about — often they ascribe symptoms to a disease that are gross exaggerations of the actual symptoms. But, of course, one can't be looking to TV dramas for perfect realism, so I'm usually willing to let that slide.

13. Yes, I noticed that every case is sensationalized and diagnosis comes after much trial and error
That seems to be the formula of the show.

29. Docs sifting through your house?
How many MDs do you know who would do a house call to make sure something in your environment wasn't the cause of your symptoms? Yet, it's SOP on House.

And talk about MD's investigating the patient homes - how about Chase and Cameron doing the nasty at a patients house a couple weeks ago? :wtf:

I often wonder why Wilson considers him to be a friend, or continues to put up with him. House is so mean to him all the time. And last week House was mean to his dog! That soooo pissed me off!

House is the only show on teevee that I care to watch. He is so talented -- it's about time we saw more of him.

Been a big fan of his for a long time -- A Bit of Fry & Laurie, Blackadder, Jeeves & Wooster, now House. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :toast: :toast: :toast:

22. Love it. I'm totally addicted to the show
although the relationship between Chase and Cameron is weird- did you know they are engaged in real life?

Anyway, Dr. House is the man we love to hate! He is so obnoxious and such a jerk.

By the way, I can't stand how they dress the two female lead characters. Those clothes suck big time! What's with the puffy sleeves and ruffles?

Not a favorite of mine with the story line though. It think it detracts from the show. And possibly, because I have have such a major aversion to on-the-job romances.

I think Chase is an underdeveloped character, though. There's that whole hinterland of used to be a cleric, now a Doc...

I like that actor, though. He needs a meatier role. Perhaps if they dropped him and he could go do something else.

but this one is just weird. I really liked when they had House's ex-wife on. And the Wilson/Cuddy relationship is a slow burn...

24. No-o-o-o-o! Don't fire Foreman and Cameron!
I heard through the grapevine that some of the actors might not be signing on for season four. Seems the network dudes, always the perfect arbitors of good taste, think the cast needs a makeover. I like Wilson and Cuddy too, but Foreman and Cameron contribute a lot. I don't really care if they get a different blond bimbo, so Chase is not much of a concern for me.

Foreman gave his notice of resignation in last weeks episode.

And if you didn't see the show last week, it was very disturbing on many levels.

32. Like the show for the most part.
Not being in the medical field I can overlook some of the artistic liscensce taken. (how many doctors perform their own imaging, pathology, surgeries, etc..)

The main character is interesting and well acted.

But mainly, I get to sigh over the beautiful Lisa Edelstein every week.

I wanna cuddle Dr. Cuddy.

34. I love the show! It's really human relationships wrapped into a medical "story"
Edited on Tue May-08-07 03:05 PM by Rabrrrrrr
The medical stuff is irrelevant, and that's what I love.

It's really about the people and their growth, and very well written.

The medical second story is always the same - freak thing happens, it's solved, no it isn't (this one usually accompanied with vomiting blood or spraying it from the eyes), okay, now it is after a trip to the home, wait, no it isn't, oops - close to death now - wait, House looks at a newspaper ad/cyclone/hula hoop/ice cube/etc. and sees the solution, patient cured and sent on their way at 56 minutes into the hour.

But the relationship stories - brilliant!! And the acting is way above par.

He's brilliant in the Black Adder and as Bertie Wooster. :loveya: I enjoy how he inhabits the House character, but I admit, I don't watch the program on FOX. I always forget that it's on. I catch it in syndication on whatever Law and Order channel it is broadcast on, on cable.
