How can *you* stop the horror? Buy FREE RANGE TOMATOES!
Edited on Wed May-23-07 07:51 AM by underpants
Just look at this horrible practice of caging the tomatoes. They even call them just that "tomato cages"

Is there no shame?

and look at this! They use an otherwise normal gardener to make this look "normal"

Well it's NOT! It is high time that we end this barbaric practice.

1. Free range tomatoes just don't look or taste as good.
It's easier to grow massive quantities when they're confined to cages too.

3. The Arrogant Worms addressed this very issue in "Carrot Juice is Murder"
Their incredible protest song that sticks up for the rights of vegetables everywhere.

Here's the relevant part of the lyrics:

How low as people do we dare to stoop
Making young broccolis bleed in the soup
Untie your beans, uncage your tomatoes
Set potted plants free, don't mash that potato, ah

I've heard the screams of the vegetables scream scream scream
Watching their skins being peeled fates in the stir fry are sealed
Grated and steamed with no mercy you fat gourmet scum
How do you think that feels leave them out in the fields
Carrot juice constitutes murder V8's genocide
Greenhouses prisons for slaves yes your compost's a grave
It's time to stop all this gardening take up macramé
Let's call a spade a spade it's a spade it's a spade it's a spade

Support these freedom fighters, visit their website at http://www.arrogant-worms.com/index.php and buy lots of their music to support the cause!

4. I'll give up my tomato cages
when they are pried from my cold dead hands. Any day now I'll reach through those cages and get a nice harvest of creoles and you aren't getting any of them.

6. That is just sick
Those people don't deserve to have tomatoes.

If they want to put something in a cage, have children.

That's what I did.

7. Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn straight!
http://totallyabsurd.com/babycage.htm

Baby Cage
US Patent Issued In 1998

Adults: big… babies: small. So how can you safely combine the two in one large bed? With the Baby Cage. The Baby Cage is an oval shaped domed structure featuring curved crossbars that are strong enough to support an adult's weight, keeping baby safe. You know, this thing doesn’t exactly induce warm and fuzzy feelings. Baby Cage = future visits to doctors with couches. So how about this… next time you are thinking of putting the wee one in junior jail, maybe just pull the crib up next to your bed.

10. Well the ironic thing about that post is the fact that I don't eat tomatoes

13. Still eat at Olive Garden, do you?
Did you know that the people who supply Olive Garden with their frozen tomato-flavored sauces rip tomatoes off of the vine, rip their skin off while still alive, and throw them into boiling water?

14. But the free-range tomatoes have a nasty habit of stampeding
Over a dozen tomatoboys a year are killed by spooked tomato herds. Not to mention the clothing stains...
