My dog (a five year old Sheltie) is petrified of a 10 week old puppy...
It's hysterical. She hides under the steps that she sitting on in this picture until he goes away.

So much for getting a dog to protect the children. She's very good at herding them around the trampoline and swing set though. And the best part, she is a wonderful friend. Always there, always cares and would never break my heart.

So what if she's a little goofy.

I've tried to talk MrG into maybe getting a tri as well as the sable. They're like potato chips. Once you have one you want more. :) he grew up with them.

Here is my dad's kitten "hanging out" with Jessie. She wasn't very happy about it:

Today she is experimenting with how much weight she can put on it, and how much motion she has. She is still taking the Vicodin, which is making her goofy, but her spirits are so high it'd hard to tell if it's her or the drugs. :bounce:

58. Oh, okay.
SHe might be scared of really quick movements or is a very docile dog. Once my cat was chasing a squirrel, always staying about 3 feet behind it, never intending to catch it. Because I know how fast that cat can go if he wants. But when the squirrel went horizontally running along this fence, it freaked out my cat. My cat stopped dead in his tracks and just watched this squirrel do these acrobatics.

47. I love shelties!
Shelties have been the family dog for several generations. I don't have enough time off work to properly care for a dog now, but I so miss having a sheltie.

The herding instinct is sure in them. About 15 years ago, I had a Lhasa, and my sister left her Sheltie "Pebbles" with me to dog sit. I could not walk them without the leashes getting tangles from Pebbles wanting to herd me and the Lhasa.

I also like their air of aloofness. They kind of have a cute snootiness about them, don't they? Pebbles would play games with my Lhasa, floating her tail in his face and running off, as if to say, "here is what you ain't getting". It was cute.

51. We used to have a 65 pound Border Collie who was definitely an
"alpha" male.

There was a man in our neighborhood who walked a little Maltese that maybe weighed 6 pounds soaking wet. Our Border Collie would never look at that dog and would walk off of the sidewalk to avoid it...this from a dog who would bark at every other dog he saw.

It was the funniest thing.
