Stories Of Being Fired and/or Evicted...
I was once fired from a sales job for taking time away from making cold calls, while I was taking care of a client.

I was evicted once because I had a Black guitar student coming to my home.

3. That had to really suck...
Don't tell me -- you left your boyfriend because he came from a dysfunctional family?

11. You guessed it.

It was a year after we broke up that she bought the house. She was investing in rentals for retirement income so she bought a couple of others as well but I was the only one evicted. Big surprise there.

4. I was evicted because the house was sold, but theres more
the guy who owned the house was a real asshole who I had done many many freeby type favors for and in the end he pissed me off so badly by coming around trimming trees and fixing gutters in the evenings after work when I was trying to have some quiet after long work days. I told him " I have a lease and you can do whatever you want around here to fix things up to make the house more sale ready during the day when I'm not here, I'm gone from 7am to 7pm weekdays, but he always ended up chainsawing out my window when I was trying to watch "Hardball".I grew to hate him and swore to get even somehow.

I found a new place an old carriage house that had been vacant for years, I little two bedroom apartment above some long dormant stables. I asked my new land lord if I cleaned out the junk from the lower level(the stalls) could I use that space too? He said sure so I filled up three or four pick ups full of stuff and deposited it all into the garage of the house I had been evicted from just cause he was such a prick.

5. Now That's a Great Story!...
...Reminds me of my uncle Bill who was not allowed to offload his cargo of manure at the usual dumpsite (western NY). He dumped it on the lawn in front of Buffalo's city hall.

He went to the bank & exchanged currancy -- he payed his fine Japanese Yen (made the papers & the dump was reopened).

7. I was once fired for doing too much work
True story. I was making the boss look bad so instead of actually doing something around the place, he fired me. :eyes:

10. I got a real winner about getting fired
Back in 1999, I was working for a major drug-store. I was fired for making "terrorist threats" against the store manager. Here is what happened:

I'm sitting outside eating my lunch one day and the lady who worked in the 1-hour photo department comes out there and starts complaining about the store manager and the workload he had been placing on the employees. Granted, I thought the guy was a slimy prick, but I had little experience in working with him. We will call him Mr. Jones. The lady starts going off on a tangent and said something along the lines of "Yeah, Mr.Jones is like the chief, and the rest of us are the little Indians" I said something like " Well, maybe one of the Indians needs to shoot an arrow through the chief's head". This was very matter-of-fact, and there were more employees around who had their own complaints then.

Welly well...three days later, I go to clock in and who is standing by the time clock but the store manager himself. He asked me if I punched in yet, and I told him no. He then asked me to go back to the stock room to talk. I go back there and see a guy in a full suit sitting on a chair. After a moment, I recognized him as the district head of security; the guy who gets called in when employees are caught stealing etc......He tells me that an employee phoned in a threat made to the store manager in detail. I told them how the conversation went, and I had no intentions of doing such a thing. He then told me that the local police department had been put on alert because of this. They fired me ( thanks for that, idiots.....it's one of the reasons I got out of Florida and came back home to P.A ) and gave me the prior weeks pay. After telling friend and family about the ordeal, they all laughed hysterically about it, since the idea of me doing something like that was so absurd.

12. We got evicted because somebody told the landlord
we are atheists. Unlike other tenants (who were members of the landlord's church), we had never missed paying the rent, had made repairs the landlord kept putting off and, in general, left the property in a lot better shape than it was when we moved in.

13. Was almost fired once for not cutting corners
post-hurricane carpenters get that a lot. I held the door while the lead carpenter "talked" to the foreman.

The job was saved and lasted 6 months. I miss Charleston.

:)

14. Extermination Termination
I was working for a company that laid-off the majority of their employees in my division by telling us that we needed to take home all personal items over the weekend because the exterminators were coming, and the company didn't want to be responsible for personal belongings. Then, on Sunday night we all received calls from HR telling us not to return to work. Like clockwork our severance information arrived Monday. It was dubbed the Extermination Termination. :)

Btw, this was a well-known international corporation.
