Who is your LEAST favorite Star Trek character?
Sisko aside, just about anyone from DS9 does it for me. Especially Odo (who became human because the production team became too cheap for the f/x) and doubly especially Quark, who is a half-assed jibe at the republicans who was too comedic to be a real insult. The only thing lacking was a comedy "quack" noise to coincide with every step he took.

1. That mug on Enterprise doing the bad Tommy Lee Jones impression
His southern accent is so laughably phony. It's like he picked it up from watching videos of the Chimp himself.

2. Wesley
mostly because his storylines were sometimes dumb:

especially the one where he evolved to a higher plane of being. That one was icky.

I pretty much liked ST:TOS characters.

4. Wesley and the Ferengi---any of 'em
(sp? on "ferengi"???)

Can't stand any ST:NG with a "Wesley" focus and absolutely hate watching or listening to those damn Ferengi characters

In the "don't like, but don't *hate* category":
The Enterprise guy who has the cornpone accent that is (I guess) southern
Deanna Troi's mother
I go back and forth on "Q" depending on the episode
Captain Kirk (too hysterical for my taste)
That odd guy on Deep Space 9 who looks like his face is made of modeling clay---sort of human looking but also kind of "blank" looking at the same time. Major creep factor.

6. Too harsh
You are too harsh on DS9. I thought it was a lot better than the other spinoffs.

My list is mostly Next Gen folks:

* Wesley
* Troi
* Dr. Crusher

And the Talaxian on Voyager with the mohawk.

I liked all the women on DS9.

I think Ferengi are fairly amusing, but don't like spending too much time watching them.

10. I'll vote for Quark
Talk about taking Star Trek down cliche bullshit lane.

"Rules of Acquisition" and all that crap. Star Trek gone self-parody, but even knowing they'd gone self-parody. Like they hired the Top Gun writing team or something.

Quark certainly could have been interesting. But they really f-ed him up as a character, and his presence really ruined Deep Space Nine for me because of the cliche-laden nature of that character. Otehr characters had their problems, of course, but Quark was the one moment of truly poor character use and development.

In the red uniform on Next Generation... I think Worf walks by him in a hallway. Or was it Data walked past him in Ten-Forward? Maybe it was...

She wanted to quit at the time, but by season 3 she realized she made a mistake.

Everybody should be lucky that Gates McFadden came back as she was fired.

24. Personally, I liked COUNSELOR Troi...
At least for eye candy, and particularly during the earlier seasons of TNG. You guys who still drool like Pavlov's dogs at the mere mention of Voyager's 7 of 9 should pay homage to Marina Sirtis for clearing the way.

She was mighty cute, soft and pretty in those tight, form-fitting jumpsuits she wore, though she did look extremely harsh in black and the "bun" on her head during Season One. The producers (Berman and others Post-Roddenberry) jumped the shark and botched her character later, IMHO, when they made her don the standard Starfleet Issue, had her suddenly develope aspirations to become a commander and get promoted over Second Officer Lt. Commander Data in ONE episode. (The ship's PSYCHOLOGIST becoming a COMMANDER? Huh???) Her tech IQ suddenly shot up 60 points, making even LaForge's and Data's heads spin in subsequent episodes. If the producers really wanted a strong and intelligent female character on the show, they should've instead opted to bring back Commander Shelby (The Best of Both Worlds) or somehow resurrected Lieutenant Tasha Yar from Season One.

In the movies, Marina Sirtis is still pretty, epecially most recently in Nemesis, but she's so skinny now, she looks almost haggish. A few females may find it shocking coming from a man, but Sirtis is one woman who looked better carrying a couple of extra pounds on her frame. At least to me.

In keeping with this thread's theme, however, I choose Data for my least favorite. No, he wasn't bad during the original TNG episodes. But the movies came along, and he morphed into Lore (evil twin) with that stupid emotion chip in Generations. All the movies since have more or less unfortunately revolved around him.

25. Her promotion to commander
really PO'ed my dh, too. I thought it was weird. She became all-around-too-efficient and perfect to be real.

My DH also dispised Dr, Polaski because she gave Data such a hard time.

26. The Ferengi as a culture.
No, I don't dislike them as much as I dislike the "disconnect" between their cupidity and the statements at other times on Trek that the Federation has evolved beyond anyone wanting money, or lacking it.
That's such a blatant logic error. And the part about Ferengi females being in purdah and always going naked is beyond stupid.

I always thought Ferengi aquisitiveness was a parody of Japanese business types, though, who were more in the news at the time the shows were made than now.
