George Clooney... Reds — who changed their name to "Redlegs" in the '50s, partly as a result of McCarthyism...

18. Well, with the Twins going back and forth between third and fourth in the division
I am thinking you don't have much to worry about.

Our boys can pitch, but it is the offense that is missing.

I wish they would fire Vavra and hire a REAL batting coach.

I got to see his outing against the Angels here last week (I live in SoCal). He did not have his best stuff.

The Twins lost 16-3 that night (They had a rookie pitcher come in in the eigth inning who gave up 8 runs).

37. Awwww :)
Hey, I've always wondered about that. When an East Coast club is playing Out Here, do many people stay up until like 1 a.m. to watch/listen?

Seems like it'd be really cool to have a game on after midnight, but if you have to live with it, I guess it'd tend to suck.

38. I can't imagine the viewership numbers are very high...
only uberfans and night owls are watching...I guess I fall into both categories, so it doesn't really bother me. But it would suck if I had to get up at 6am.

I remember back in 99 when we played the Diamondbacks in the first round of the playoffs there were a couple of late night games. I was still in high school at the time but I stayed up and watched every game, I was bleary eyed the next morning but it was worth it

34. ...
a double and an error on Beltran which allowed the runner to go to third...then you guys tried to squeeze but we pitched out and tagged the runner at third out, Lo Duca tried to make a double play at first (which he had no shot at) and ended up throwing the ball almost to the warning track in right field which allowed that runner to advance to third...THEN a bloop hit allowed that runner to score. El Duque was knocked out of the game and the third out was made

that was a mouthful

btw that was the first error on Beltran in 153 games...he picked the perfect time to break his streak :eyes: though it was a questionable error

Although Betemit has been a pinch-hitting marvel, and Loney's making the most of his return from Triple-A.

I'm confused, though — we're supposed to be the ones who kick the ball all over the yard.

45. I'm trying to rationalize things in my mind...
last year we had an awesome early June and a crappy end of June including getting swept by a white hot Red Sox team...so I'm telling myself that this year it's a crappy early June but we're finishing strong.

Either that or the Spankees stole our mojo

46. Yeah, that's the ticket
Look at the Dodgers last year. We had that incredible April and more or less coasted the rest of the way.

Everybody has slumps, man — even good ball clubs. The difference with good ball clubs is they don't last as long or happen as often.
