Hmmm. All those 32" LCD sets and yet, when push comes to shove, I'm not buying.

My current, big large old clunky somewhat-faded heat generating CRT display works.

32" LCD is nicer, wider, widescreen, comparable to 27" for standard TV shows, very crisp, well saturated, certain models have acceptable black levels, have much lower power requirements...

But even going from the $480 model to the $1000 model (:wow:), these TVs just don't inspire. Static images have obvious banding, so I'm wondering if they are 6-bit rather than 8-bit panels. While the contrast ratios are from anywhere between 1000:1 to 8000:1, the banding is worse in the TVs than it is on my native LCD monitor. Which is amusing, these LCD TVs can also double as analogue VGA or DVI (via an HDMA adapter) monitor.

Or even the 26" ones, which I would be inclined to use to replace both TV and monitor to save further on electricity and spatial costs... what I have works.

And knowing the offshoring of America, and how everything is said to collapse within ~18 years, why bother? Should I not live for today?
