true story - when I was in the Army, my roommate discovered a box of cheez-its on top of his wall locker. It had been opened, and sitting there for close to 2 years. But they still tasted as good as the day he opened them!

That would allow you to have the freshest box ever.
In my work as a food processing professional, I'd say that fresh processed cheese is much better than the weeks or months old stuff in stores. The current product that my company makes though doesn't taste best fresh.
