Update on my Dad, sort of:

I just got back from Western MA...I'm exhausted. Left here at 6:30 this morning. Went with Mom to the hospital, ended up being there for 3 hours, waiting for the Anesthesiology people to bring us the consent forms.

Dad...looks like hell! He has a massive dark purple bruise on his neck from a failed attempt to insert a central line (they were successful on the other side, thankfully). He's in tremendous pain, and waaaay out of it. He knows who we are, can crack jokes about Bush and talk baseball, but then he keeps forgetting things, like where he is, the fact that I'm getting married, or that he's having surgery. Sigh.

The Doctor I talked to was a fucking idiot. When I told her that he has MS, she looked at me like I had three heads. Way to read the file, Doc. :eyes: And she couldn't figure out why he's on Dilantin. "You know that's for seizures, right? So, he has seizures?" No idiot, he's been on it for 20 years....for his MS!!!! :banghead:

Oh, and they convienently neglected to tell us that his infection is MRSA :(

He's on two antibiotics, and oxygen. He has mild emphysema, and his lungs sound like crap.

He was going into surgery at 2:30, still haven't heard anything. I don't knwo if that's bad or good.

So, keep those prayers coming, please.

like Vancomycin or Rocephin or Levaquin. That way he'll get better much faster.

I'm sorry he is going through this and that the medical folks aren't on top of their game. I know when my grandmother was in the hospital for parkinson's related symptoms (actually they'd given her medicine that reacted badly) the doctor mentioned some of her symptoms might be due to her painkillers and she wasn't even on painkillers. That kind of thing is infuriating, I know. I hope things get better for you and him soon. :hug: :hug: :hug:

10. Well, problem is...

They keep moving him (2 hopitals in 2 days), and from ICU to an intermediate ward, and back, etc...He's had 3 different Doctors since 2 nights ago. Hopefully I'll get to talk to one of them in the morning.
