Help! Anyone Ever Used "Darick's Boot and Nuke?"

I know this is a computer related question, dear mod, but I'm in a hurry to get an answer and I know this forum gets eyeballs.

I've gotta get a POS laptop back to the store before it closes or I'm past the no questions asked return policy and out a grand. Did I mention I procrastinate about stuff like this? :)

Anyway, I downloaded some recommended freeware, DBAN, and chose AUTONUKE and the damn thing's taking forever to complete! I didn't realize the process would take so long.

If I stop the process before all three overwrites finish, will my personal info still be easily recoverable? Or will the disk pretty much be wiped?

I'm ready to pull the plug at 8 PST to get over to the store.

Were all my efforts for naught?
