"The Tomato That Ate Cleveland" (and other childhood masterpieces)
When I was a kid I came up with this tale and regaled my friends with it. I wish I had committed it to paper. Did you write any stories as a child?

1. Tons of them.
I started writing stories as early as first grade. I taught myself how to touch type on my grandmother's old manual typewriter at age 8. Sadly, many of those typed stories were lost 20 years or so ago during one of the many moves I made in my late teens/early twenties. I have some of the handwritten ones, though.

I wrote stories, books and plays.

4. Too bad so many of them were lost - those would be fun to have and share, huh?
I still have my "How The Grunch Brought Back Christmas" which won my sixth grade classroom Christmas play contest (which was performed for the class and for which I got to do the casting). Good times!

2. My dear DeposeTheBoyKing!
If I did, I didn't keep or remember them!

I am, however, writing now...

Oh yes....just how did the tomato eat Cleveland? :)

3. I was about 8, so there wasn't a lot of plot development
It just opened its gaping jaws and started scooping up people (some ran away screaming).

I also wrote what were called "torture stories" in college as a way to vent silently about people who had upset me. The "tortures" were completely ridiculous, such as stuffing someone into a vat of lime Jell-O, stapling a Republican professor to a Democrat, etc. I know it sounds wacko. I still have them and occasionally get them out and relive wonderful old memories (ha ha).

5. i used to write stories about life after the nuclear holocaust
or scenarios that would lead the russians to bomb england then lead us into war.

i remember reading about the nazis in grade school and then wrote stories about the world as if hitler had won. i didn't find out that P.K. Dick did that too until i was teenager.
