Having read the previous novels and then having seen the movies after, I well realize the movies end up being just a hand-picked subset of the written work. This is inevitable in ANY movie-from-novel.
Still, while watching the latest one (or is it the LAST one?) today, I kept getting the feeling that someone has run out of fresh ideas. I have no idea if it's the fact that all the characters are now grown, or if everybody is just bored with the whole thing.
The movie seemed incoherent almost to the point of having many of the scenes separate from each other, with no real internal connection between them. The plot wandered, and previously major characters seemed to simply stand in the background and frown their way through the scenes.
IMO it just didn't hold together nearly as well as the others, and the actors didn't seem willing to invest too much effort in their parts.
Perhaps it's time Ms. Rowling moved on- perhaps she should take a long vacation and spend a billion or two of her book income on something fun. I got the distinct feeling the actors are more than ready to find something else to do as well.
Personally, I was bored, and I was not impressed. Your opinions may vary.
Of course, as I said, this is just my humble opinion.
