This is NOT my first foray into the Lounge!

I don't start threads here, but I do post. I LOVE the discussions here, especially in the wee hours (when I tend to be more awake than usual): e.g. Best Movie Lines EVER, Songs that Will Continue to SUCK Throughout Eternity - and LOVE those photo threads!

However, tonight I come to the Lounge not to comment on the greatest line of dialogue from a sci-fi flick (which, BTW, would be from "Aliens"), but to support our newest VP candidate, California Peggy!

And I do LOVE the Lounge, especially because it's often a trip down Memory Lane for me. Threads pop up all the time about kids' TV shows from the '50s, TV commercials from the '60s, songs you LOVED/HATED from the '80s - it's all good!

Although I post mainly in GDP, I have spent many a night here ... The Lounge is a wonderful reminder that while politics may shape our country's fate, it is the music, the TV shows, the movies, and the personal stories that really typify what being fellow Americans is all about.

(And I will defend Stevie Nicks to the death. Just thought I'd add that ... 'cause I mean it.)

Sometimes (too often) the political discussions make me forget what ELSE is important in this world - like just being people who know how to laugh, or share a problem, or seek some friendly advice.

There was a thread here a week or two ago about dealing with newly-adopted pets who had been abused, and needed special care when disciplining their behaviour. I was absolutely AMAZED at how many people responded with such incredibly good advice. That's the kind of thing I come here for.

There is much to be learned from GD and GDP - but that doesn't discount what can be learned here, which is of equal importance.
