What's on your soundtrack for the 20th Century?
I watched a program on the Ovation Channel called "Soundtrack of the Century." basically they retraced the evolution of music in the 20th Century. it was a fascinating program, so i ask, let's say they make an actual soundtrack for the 20th century, what 15 songs would be on it?

here's mine:

1. "In the Mood" Glenn Miller (1940)
2. "Jail House Rock" Elvis (1957)

5. Symphony in 3 Movements, Stravinksy
In the sense that it captures much of what the 20th century was about. His early 20th century work also changed the face of music. There were riots at the premiere of Rite of Spring - it so jarred the sensibilities of the time

Also:

Karlheinz Stockhausen and Edgard Varèse - for initiating electronic music. Without Karlheinz, we would have no Kraftwerke. Without Edgard, no Frank Zappa

W C Handy, "Memphis Blues" - without whom we would not have the blues and rock-and-roll as we know it today
