1. As much as I love Johnny Cash
I've never understood why Waylon didn't get more attention. He was a better singer, better guitar player, just as musically honest as Cash, and his romance to his country singing wife was just as moving. I guess mainstream society can only focus on one country music star at a time.

2. more rednecks listen to waylon
i never saw johnny cash on a beer joint jukebox in rural southeast texas.

plenty of waylon, merle, david allan coe, george jones, conway twitty and suchlike

5. Not the case in Mississippi.
Waylon was from Texas, so he may have gotten more attention here, but where I grew up in Mississippi, Johnny Cash got a lot more redneck attention.
