Do the schools in your area still have holiday parties?

We had them for Halloween (Now Fall harvest) the December Holidays, and Valentines Day. I doubt NCLB allows them to have these parties.

1. Yes, and I'm from a pretty big school district
Of course, it's got a lot of Mormon influence, but still...

Halloween, by state law and voter referendum, is the last day in October. An attempt by employers to prevent 4 day weekends by selling via voter us referendum a bullshit 3 day weekend, but I digress. Most teachers still cut slack on November 1st.

And, although we go on Winter Break, Winter Break coincides with Christmas suspiciously closely.

Even going to school in the South, in the Buckle of Bible-Beltism, Valentine's Day wasn't an actual holiday, only an excuse to eat candy. For that matter, Spring Break is also miraculously timed, every single year, so that Easter is also the last day of the break.

As an atheist, I'm good with it. Holidays are important, if for tradition and mental health if nothing else.
