If you listen to a lot of conservatives, they'll tell you that the difference between them and us is that conservatives love America and liberals hate America. They don't get it. We love America just as much as they do, but in a different Way. You see, they love America the way a 4-year-old loves her Mommy. Liberals love America like grown-ups.

To a 4-year-old, everything Mommy does is wonderful and anyone who criticizes Mommy is bad. Grown-up love means actually understanding what you love, taking the good with the bad, and helping your loved one grow. Love takes attention and work and is the best thing in the world.

4. Admiral Yamamoto of the Imperial Japanese Navy was ordered to plan an attack
against the U.S. Pacific Fleet anchored at Pearl Harbor. Yamamoto loved America, had many friends here, and had studied at Harvard. Nevertheless, the consummate professional reluctantly obeyed his orders and formulated an attack plan. After he presented it to his staff, a subordinate remarked: "You're a genius, sir."

Yamamoto replied: "A genius would figure out how not to fight a war."

The terrible necessities of war led to his being shot down by U.S. forces in 1943. If only he had survived the war. He could have been a great friend of the United States.

5. The obvious lyrics...
"What's So Funny About Peace, Love and Understanding"
-- written by Nick Lowe, made famous by Elvis Costello

As I walk through this wicked world
Searching for light in the darkness of insanity.
I ask myself "Is all hope lost?"
Is there only pain and hatred, and misery?

And each time I feel like this inside,
There's one thing I wanna know:
What's so funny bout peace love & understanding? ohhhh
What's so funny bout peace love & understanding?

And as I walk on through troubled times
My spirit gets so downhearted sometimes
So where are the strong
And who are the trusted?
And where is the harmony?
Sweet harmony.

'cause each time I feel it slippin' away, just makes me wanna cry.
What's so funny bout peace love & understanding? ohhhh
What's so funny bout peace love & understanding?

10. This
song

Look at the world
Its a complicated place
And its hard to keep the pace
Youve got to wear a smiling face

But what weve got
Is a blue-light special on truth
Its the hottest thing with the youth
Youve got nervers we need to soothe

If youve got to believe in something
Believe in us we make it easy
Peace and love incorporated

Shop around
See if you dont agree
We think it fits you to a t
And the best part is its free
I believe

We got the market cornered this time
We can make you feel fine
It could impact your bottom line

If youve got to belong to something
Belong to us well make you pc
Peace and love incorporated

Peace and love
Its the newest cause by far
And weve got all the biggest stars
Get your politics up to par

Welcome... to peace and love incorporated

15. for a lot of song lyrics...
I tend to go more for the anti-war lyrics rather than pro love & peace.

The one that sprang to mind was "War Pigs" from Black Sabbath:
"Generals gathered in their masses/
just like witches at black masses/
evil minds that plot destruction/
sorcerers of death's construction"

or, for something on the softer side, "For What It's Worth" from Buffalo Springfield...

"Paranoia strikes deep/
Into your life it will creep/
it starts when you're always afraid
step out of line, the man comes & takes you away"

(stil applies today, doesn't it?)
