How does religion hinder someone you know?
I know someone who runs from the arms of everyone who cares about her. She's got issues to begin with, but her belief in JC adds to it. It does so because she sees him as her best friend. So, when you have this big patriarchal figure as your "best friend" you don't really see just how valuable your REAL on earth friends are. And that makes it easy to not get too close to people. She'll be miserable the rest of her life until she realizes she is where she is because of her fear of being close to people.
Too bad, cause people who believe in both Jesus and friends usually have it pretty balanced out and are happy.

1. My sister stopped coming to family thanksgivings
because she converted to Judaism and she won't eat anywhere unless it's a kosher kitchen... or something like that. I don't know exactly what it is she calls it, but she won't come over for dinner.

2. If this is the person I think your talking about, I think there might be other issues bigger...
than religion that are driving the behavior.

4. You should tell her "Isn't it enough that he died for your sins, does he have to take the...
blame for your bad relationships too now?"

6. haha
Well, what she does is everytime she SHOULD talk to someone about something, she talks to Jesus. Hey, Jesus don't talk back in obvious ways - THERAPISTS DO

7. Does she talk to a pastor or priest or something?
Maybe that would help.

She doesn't want anyone to know about all this stuff. It freaks her out.
Hence the reason we aren't speaking. It seems I, "Know too much about her" and she hates that.

5. Mother In Law
Extremely intelligent woman. Could run circles around her husband, who is a retired professor (and he's a genius too.) However, her addiction to Catholicism keeps her from her true potential.
