Poll question: Who was your favorite Star Trek captain?
Because I'm in a dorkish mood today, and I'm just continuing the whole Star Trek theme from much of the day today.

So who's YOUR captain?

5. Sisko.. because..
he basically ran a huge port-town.. complete with all the unsavory characters/sailors that come with it.. and ran it well.

You didn't want to mess with him, because he'd take you down. He even punched Q right in his smug little face!

He ran it damn well, and took care of a good kid, too.

On edit: Janeway runs a close second for me. I love her attitude and compassion for her crew.

15. I tried my best to be complete in the list!
I believe Spock was the only major commanding officer in the Star Trek series who actually gave his life to save the crew of his ship. There's talk about the captain going down with the ship and all that, but Spock actually died to save the Enterprise!

I'm not saying he's like Jesus; I'm just saying, I might follow him if he started a religion.

In return they get an unwarranted successful Hollywood career.

This one apparently jumped from Shatner to Stewart and then back to Shatner again.

(Or maybe it is an epiparasite - a parasite that feeds on another parasite.)

Edited on Sat Sep-29-07 12:24 AM by jtg33
...but he never really did anything great - at least that we saw in Star Trek. He tried to go down to engineering to save the Enterprise B, but Kirk stopped him because his place "is on the bridge." Also, he probably would have failed and everybody would have died anyway.

She has done more than any other captain on that list. I would say even more than Kirk/Picard combined.

24. Kirk may have to be disqualified.
He is an elemental force of pure hamminess. I'm sure that if you put Picard, Sisko, Janeway and Archer aboard a trans-warp vessel and sent them to the edge of the universe, they would find Kirk's initials carved there. When Creation dies its long, slow heath death, or collapses into a Big Crunch, whatever puff of smoke is emitted will, just for a moment, swirl into a portrait of Kirk. Hell, if the galaxy were threatened by the Big Crunch, Kirk would save the day by punching the Crunch in the face.

He was much more than a captain. I like the others better as commanding officers, but he has something that none of the others do.
