I woke up this morning to see this swirling in the air outside...

The first snow of the season in this part of the state.

We need to have a smilie shaking its fist angrily at gray skies overhead, displeased at the fact that he is merely a yellow ball with no control over the weather. That's how I feel about this snow: a small, helpless yellow ball, searching for meaning in a sea of falling snow, putting on my slippers because some genius decided that snow had to be COLD.

Sigh... I was hoping we could put this off for another 7 months or so.

6. Longmont indeed!
Very cool. I'll bet Estes Park already has a few inches up there. It's not sticking too much, but it's steady down here.

17. We're In The Foot Hills, South Of Denver.

They estimated we might get as much as 8" today; we had that much by noon. It's tapered off now; guess I'll clear the driveway in a while.

Sure hope this winter is milder than the last one......

8. funny, even before I saw SPK's post
I knew that was either Denver or somewhere darned close. :)

And we need serious cold this year. A good three to four week freeze or next year? Allergies will be even worse than they are this year.

Thanks for the beautiful pictures.

20. Well, you're not missing anything with the snow.
It's all melted away already. of course, it was really only sticking to the grass, the roof, and the deck, and it didn't accumulate much at all, but what little sunlight we've had today has done away with it.

Sounds like they got a lot south of Denver, though...

12. Snowing and a Sunday Night NFL Game for the Donkeys.
Can't hurt the ski industry!

By the way, up here in Conifer, we're having a mini-blizzard, wind blowing sideways and about 7 inches of snow on the ground. We've got the wood stove stoked, chicken vegetable soup in a crockpot, bottles of red wine, three movies from Netflix, the dogs and cats are splayed out on the floor and whoooeeeee, ain't it grand!

14. My mom and I are trying to guess how
many series games will be postponed for snow.

Since you are in Longmont thought you might like to see some pics of it in the early 1900s. My mom was born and raised there and my grandfather never did understand how she could leave Colorado. She said something about it being green and colorful here instead of brown and red. Since most of the family is still there I have been there all seasons and have to agree with my grandfather.

21. Wow! Awesome pictures!
It certainly has changed a lot around here in the last century...

As for the postponements... I don't think we'll have any. Mother Nature has cooperated with the Rockies so far this month!

Still, that would be something you don't see very often in the World Series (if at all) - a game postponed due to snow.

18. So far, our leaves are about 10 days behind schedule and the
weather is very warm. A few years ago, we had no frost until the first snow fall in late December. The snow came so fast and thick that the grass underneath stayed warm and green all winter. For Central New York, this is a very strange series of events.

it's about 80º and clear -- but it is also prime weather for fires.

We have 2 or 3 down here and of course the one up in Malibu.

I enjoyed the pics...thanks.
