these were taken monday at about 1pm from right outside our hotel room on I-5 in encinitas.

it was a great and beautiful vacation up until the fires. only one day was ruined for us but many days and perhaps years were ruined for the residents who lost their homes and loved ones.

1. I live there! Not at the hotel; at the Encinitas Blvd. exit. We were

packed up and ready to evacuate if necessary. The air was awful. Come back and see us some other time. Usually it's great here.

2. it was a great vacation until the fires.

the SD area is so beautiful but i could tell how dry it was when we were on the road to the hotel after arriving. i live in a semi tropical area so i noticed the difference immediately. it looked like all the ground cover would crunch if i walked on it.

we had a good time from friday until sunday: the zoo, aquarium, wildlife park. we actually wanted to go back to the wildlife park for the stuff we missed but the fires came and we couldn't make it.

but at least i got to try an in n out burger. yummy. and i usually don't like fast food.
