I put him in the backseat during the ride because I wanted him to sit and be still and I had to pull over to the side of the road because he started howling. Really howling. I moved him to the front seat and he was ok.
Anyway the vet gave him 2 drugs for his back and pain! I didn't even think he might be standing so much because he was in pain. He gave him Metacam which is a non-steroid anti-inflammatory and valium.
As far as the dementia they gave me information on Aricept and a special diet. I don't know why they didn't start him on the Aricept today except maybe they wanted him to get stabilized on the other meds first.
They had to order the special diet, (it is Science diet BD(?) for the brain and I hope to pick up the Aricept on Thursday when I go for the special diet food.
Anyway I am so relieved. Duke is in good health besides all of this so I have high hopes. Thanks to all who sent him good vibes today. :hug: :grouphug:
