I know we still have the Pro Bowl, but the Super Bowl is over. I give the Eagles a B, only because they overcame such adversity.

7. You've got that right!
I've been a Giants fan for four decades and I don't ever recall seeing them quit the way they did this year. Hell, at least they *tried* when Pisarcek was QB. Worst season ever.

2. Dolphins- C
A 10-6 record isn't bad at all. It's a fluke when a 10 win team misses the playoffs.

However, this is a team that is talented enough to reach past the first round of the playoffs.

I'm disappointed with the off-season moves so far. Huizenga rearranged a few chairs, but basically the same power structure is in place. They needed to go outside the organization and bring in some fresh faces.

20. I agree, B- or C
But our talent is overrated and imbalanced, completely unlike the Patriots, who have no significant weaknesses other than punter.

Miami's OL is unathletic and must be revamped, particularly the interior. Chambers is the only WR who must be accounted for, so we need at least two newcomers. Obviously our QB cannot make the plays that Brady and Delhomme made look routine on Sunday.

One OLB is ancient and the other invisible. The DTs can't get upfield at all. One of our DT rejects, Shane Burton, blocked a field goal Sunday and should never have been let go. A faster safety opposite Brock Marion would be ideal.

Plus our KRs scare no one, and the retread punter is only marginally better than New England's.

I concur 100% regarding the personnel department blunders, TSIAS. The potential GMs from New Orleans and Baltimore would have provided a necessary jolt. But late tonight it looks like Marino is second-guessing his decision to take the VP job, and that should be a hot topic this week.

Redskins D, but I think with Joe Gibbs' return they have a chance to come back.
Seahawks C - they kicked butt at home (undefeated in Seahawke stadium) but didn't take that intensity to road trips. Ray Rhoads did wonders to the defensive line...they have potential.

37. Absolutely, a B+ even
I had no idea (including the media) that Dallas would have finished 10 and 6. But, you know how we feel about Dallas going further in the playoffs. One playoff game is usually not enough, but this year, we should take it.

Expectations should be higher next year. With Gibbs and Coughlin now in the conference, things will get a lot tougher.

59. Steelers...
I fully believe the coaches deserve at least an equal share of the blame. Chuck Knoll and his coaches fashioned the best team of the '70s out of an eclectic bunch of players. Cowher has had the talent to work with, with very different results. And yes, I know $$$$ plays a role here in a way that's very different from the '70s. Still...

Frankly, I was gonna give them a C-minus before I saw your post about "year after year..." Hell, that's how I feel too. It wasn't that long ago that they were in the Super Bowl, but that's been as good as it gets since their glory years (which I remember fondly---I lived in Pittsburgh then). Maybe it's time to say goodbye to Cowher. At the root of it, probably, are the same money problems the the whole city of Pittsburgh is experiencing now. Too damn bad.

33. I'll go with a solid B
The offense gets an A+, definitely.

Defense gets a C-. They started at a D or D-, but improved the line with the addition of Grady Jackson. The secondary was suspect all year long.

Special Teams rated a B+ or A-.

Coaching was a B+. Certainly could be better, and some of the calls were suspect, but another 10-win season and another division title.

Overall, I felt they overachieved a bit. I'm looking forward to the 2004 season, with expectations of an improved defense and a run at the Super Bowl.

46. A- for the Seahawks
Good points all to you my friend. i bumped them up a bit on my scale for sneakin' in to the playoffs and loosing a couple heart breakers. (Ravens,Bengals) for once at least they didn't finish 8-8, 7-9, or 9-7. Seems like they are never good enough to be weekly favs or bad enough to inspire pity or a high draft pick. (maybe Ohio State's Will Smith, will fall low for us this year) :) :)

good luck next year Seattle

29. Eagles: B or B+
Their defense was not good this year--witness all the rushing yeards against them, which is a departure from the past--but the offense was significantly better. Eagles need a stud defensive lineman, healthier linebackers, and at least one possession receiver. Although the secondary will be broken up, I think they are fine there (even though they will not be as stong as they have been with Troy Vincent and Bobby Taylor).

34. 49ers C-
It would have been a D if it weren't for the few flashes of brilliance this year, particularly how they just ran completely over Tampa this year. As good as Terrell Owens is, I hope he, and his attitude are gone next season. Should also free up serious cap room.

They have some good running backs, and I think Barlow is the one to keep. Hearst still has good years in him, but I think its time to settle on one back, and not this RB by committee, I've never liked that. Hearst could fetch a prospect, or at least a nice draft pick.

Prognosis for next year, probably the same as this year. The defense still has holes in it, read placeholder cornerbacks. It's also time for them to start looking for a new QB, Garcia is entering his mid 30's.

Yes, I follow two teams in the same division.

Bears: They need a centerpiece running back. A-Train is nothing to sneeze at, but is he Sayers? Sweetness? Nope.

Lions: Incomplete. Like Joey's passes. And I put most of the blame on the receivers. The defense shows promise. But all the injuries make it hard to judge 'em.
